Halloween (Bouckville, NY – Oct. 2015) The Chenango Canal Association and the Kelley Phillips Post 569 American Legion from Oriskany Falls; together with friends and local businesses will sponsor a Halloween Happenin’ in Bouckville at the Chenango Canal Towpath Trail and Cottage Museum on the corner of State Route 20 and Canal Road on Saturday, Oct. 17 from 5 to 9 p.m. Trick or Treaters can still stop at the Falls American Legion for candy and then come to Bouckville for the Halloween Happenin’.

For the little ones, we have the Bright Side of Halloween: This side is not so scary. Imagine learning something new at a Halloween event. Featured is scientist TJ Moorehead and his wife Angela Reed from Norwich, who perform real experiments to educate and entertain families in the Cottage Museum.

Then, kids and adults alike can follow riddles and rhymes in a new Clues Hunt & Adventure Quest.

Come dressed in costume to win ribbons for prettiest, cutest, funniest, scariest or most original in a Costume Contest.

Watch movies in the dungeon or play games.

Eat donuts and drink cider and best of all, play games for a bag of Halloween candy.

Trees are decorated with brilliant lights.  More than 100 Jack O-Lanterns are carved and mounted in displays. Take your picture with cut-out fairy tale figures along the Towpath Trail.

Then there’s the Dark Side: Dare to walk along the Haunted Towpath, full of zombies and swamp monsters. Are they dead or alive? Is it a prop or is it real? Hauntings are brought to you by Madison Central School students who specialize in the undead. An eerie guide tells a story and chills your bones between 7 and 9 p.m. Once you start, there’s no turning back.

The event is free to the public, but cash or check donations are accepted by the Chenango Canal Association to help us continue to scare and entertain you in future years, just in case you live through this one.

Please note a sprinkle or light rain will not melt us, but if it pours or is extremely windy, the event is postponed to Saturday, Oct. 24.
