(Madison County, NY – Dec. 2015) The following events will take place in and around Madison County during the month of December.
On Friday Dec. 4 from 7 pm to 9 pm the Friends of Lorenzo will host Christmas by Candlelight at the Lorenzo State Historic Site. Christmas at Lorenzo is an annual tradition and guests will get to see the house bedecked in this year’s theme Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker.” Hosted by the friends, members and their guests are treated to a special evening of live music and seasonal delights. Sleigh rides (weather permitting) will be available throughout the weekend, and ornamental crafts and holiday treats will also be featured at the Rippleton School House. On Saturday Dec. 5 at 11 am the Rome Historical Society will Phil host Phil Alerding, a Rome Historical Society Trustee. Alerding will be leading a chat on the Erie Canal in Rome. Discussion and questions welcomed. There is no charge for this event. For more information please call 315-336-5870.
On Sunday Dec. 6 from 1 pm to 4 pm the Madison County Historical Society will host their annual Victorian Christmas themed open House. Come and see rooms decorated by Balloons & Blossoms, the Green Thumb Garden Club, the Sherrill Garden Club and Historical Society Volunteers. Musical performances by the St. Pat’s Select Choir, Whitelaw Ringers, Suzuki Violin Studio and Kevin Bailey. A visit from Santa featuring holiday storytelling and more. On Monday Dec. 7 at 6 pm the Fabius Historical Society will host their annual Potluck Dinner at the Fabius Community Center. Bring a dish to pass and enjoy live music after the meal. This event is free and open to the public. For more information please call Sandy Beglinger at 315-683-5878.
On Thursday Dec. 31 from 4 pm to 6 pm the Smithfield Community Center will hold its annual “Watch Night for Emancipation.” More information to come.
