state-police-seal-150x150(Oneida, NY – Jan. 9, 2016) Oneida-based state police charged an Oneida man with driving while intoxicated after stopping him for failing to wear his seatbelt on Jan. 6.

At approximately 2:20 p.m. Stephen L. Eaton, 55, of North Broad Street, Oneida was observed driving his 2015 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck on Madison Street in the city of Oneida without having his seatbelt fastened.  Trooper Steven Fountain stopped Eaton and while interviewing him, observed that Eaton had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath.  Field sobriety tests determined that Eaton was intoxicated and he was taken into custody.

Eaton was processed at the SP Oneida barracks, where a breath test determined his blood alcohol content to be .13 percent.  Eaton was charged with DWI, Driving with a BAC of .08 percent or greater and no seatbelt and was scheduled to appear in the City of Oneida Court Jan. 8.
