(Oneida, NY – Jan. 11, 2016) With the new traffic signal at Route 5 (Genesee Street) and Broad Street there has been questions regarding the markings on Broad Street and future plans. The markings (lines on the road to keep traffic out of the marked area) are in place to make the southbound traffic at Broad and Route 5 use one lane when going either right or left to allow enough room for tractor trailers that leave Hood to be able to make the turn onto Route 5 from Broad Street.
In the spring, the state Department of Transportation (DOT) will be modifying the intersection to accommodate the change.
