Chittenango man stopped for speeding, charged with DWI

(Town of Sullivan, NY – Feb. 5, 2016) Sullivan based state police arrested a Chittenango man for DWI after stopping him for speeding in the Village of Chittenango.

At approximately 11:10 p.m. Feb. 4 Trooper Nathan Parrino was patrolling on Route 5 in the Village of Chittenango when he observed a 2014 GMC Sierra pickup truck travelling eastbound on Route 5 at a high rate of speed, then slow and turn into the Yellow Brick Road Casino parking lot.  The pickup drove through the parking lot in a reckless manner then returned to Route 5.

As the pickup truck was travelling west on Route 5, Parrino caught up to the truck and determined it was travelling at 88 mph in a 45 mph zone.  Parrino activated his emergency lights and stopped the truck on Tom Tom Street.  The driver of the vehicle, identified as Anthony B. Armstrong, 51, of Dyke, Road, Chittenango, admitted to drinking alcoholic beverages earlier in the evening and field sobriety tests determined that he was intoxicated.

Armstrong was taken into custody for DWI and transported to the state police satellite office in Sullivan for processing, where a breath test determined that Armstrong’s blood alcohol content was .18 percent.  Further investigation revealed that Armstrong’s truck had collided with a car in the Yellow Brick Road Casino parking lot and fled the scene prior to being stopped.

Armstrong was issued traffic tickets for driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated with a BAC of .08 percent or greater, speeding, leaving the scene of a property damage accident and several other traffic violations.  He is scheduled to appear in the Village of Chittenango Court Feb. 17.

(Oneida, NY – Feb. 3, 2016) Matthew A. Martin, 44, of Vanderbilt Avenue, Oneida was arrested on an arrest warrant Feb. 2 on a charge of Trespass. He was also arrested on a Bench Warrant for allegedly failing to appear on a Petit Larceny charge.

Rodney L. Ineich, 41, of Arnett Avenue, Syracuse was charged Feb. 2 with Petit Larceny. He is alleged to have stolen merchandise from Wal Mart.

Steven L. Gould, 47, of Madison Street, Oneida was charged Feb. 1 with Petit Larceny. He is alleged to have stolen property from another person’s apartment.

Brian D. Farley, 36, of Williams Street, Oneida was issued a criminal summons Feb. 2 on a charge of second-degree Harassment.

Oneida City Police responded to Wal Mart at about 7:15 p.m. on Monday Feb. 1 on a reported gun shot. Guthrie J. Hood, 23, of Pine Ridge Road, Canastota is alleged to have  accidentally shot himself in the foot with a 9mm handgun that he was carrying in his pocket. The bullet lodged in his foot. He was treated at the scene by Oneida City Rescue Squad and Vineall Ambulance and transported to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Utica.

Hood was charged with second-degree Reckless Endangerment and fourth-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon. He is alleged to have a permit but not endorsed for concealed carry. The investigation is continuing.

Buskey Faces Additional Charges in Meth Lab Bust

(Wampsville, NY – Feb. 1, 2016)  Madison County Sheriff’s Investigators filed additional charges after a meth lab was shut down Jan. 27 on Wilson Cove Road in the Madison County Town of Lenox.

In addition to charges he’s already facing, Jason J. Buskey, 40, has been charged with three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child (A Misdemeanor), three counts of second-degree Reckless Endangerment (A Misdemeanor), three counts of third-degree Unlawful Manufacture of methamphetamine (C Felony), Unlawful Disposal of methamphetamine laboratory (E Felony) and second-degree Criminal Possession of methamphetamine manufacturing material (C Felony).

Buskey is due in back in court at a later date to answer the additional charges.  He currently is remanded to the Madison County Jail.

Madison ATV Accident leads to DWI Arrest

(Morrisville, NY – Feb. 1, 2016) On Jan. 31 around 11 p.m. Morrisville State Police investigated an ATV personal injury accident on Augusta Road in the Town of Madison.

Clifford W. Noble, 59, of Madison was operating an ATV northbound on Augusta Road when he lost control striking a ditch before overturning. Noble was ejected.

He was treated at the scene by Madison Volunteer Fire Department and Madison Ambulance for minor injuries.

Noble was arrested for driving while intoxicated and processed at Morrisville State Police where a breath test of .21 percent BACw as provided. He was released on tickets to re-appear in the Town of Madison Court Feb 15 at 7 p.m.

Utica man charged with DWI following foot pursuit

(Town of Verona, NY – Jan. 30, 2016) Oneida based state police arrested a Utica man for DWI and resisting arrest following an accident investigation in Verona.

Trooper Terry Horton was dispatched to the La Quinta Inn on Willow Place in Verona at approximately 11:15 a.m. Jan. 24 to investigate a two car property damage accident in the parking lot.  Horton found that a 2002 Subaru Outback had rolled into the front of a parked car and that the Subaru was running with the driver sleeping at the wheel.

Horton was able to wake the driver, Matthew W. Owens, 36, of Schuyler Street in Utica and learned that Owens fell asleep with his foot on the brake and his vehicle had rolled forward into the second car.

Field sobriety tests indicated that Owens was intoxicated and he was advised he was under arrest for DWI.  Owens then turned and ran across the parking lot, attempting to elude the trooper.  After a short foot pursuit, Horton was able to catch up to Owens and take him into custody.

Owens was transported to the Oneida state police barracks, where a breath test determined Owens’ blood alcohol content to be .12 percent

Owens was arraigned in the Town of Vernon Court on the charges of driving while intoxicated, driving with a BAC of .08 percent or greater and resisting arrest and was remanded to the Oneida County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash or $2,000 bond. He was scheduled to appear in Verona Court Feb. 2.

Troopers arrest Canastota man for Leandra’s Law

(Town of Lenox, NY – Jan. 30, 2016)Oneida based state police charged a Canastota man with Aggravated DWI under Leandra’s Law following a report of a vehicle disabled in the roadway on Lewis Point Road in the Town of Lenox.

At approximately 8:25 p.m. Jan. 25 Trooper Stacey Ferris responded to the area of 8336 Lewis Point Road to check on a report of a disabled vehicle. Ferris observed a 1998 Chevrolet pickup truck off the roadway and stuck in the snow.  Ferris interviewed the driver of the vehicle, Christopher L. Sarcione, 34, of Whitelaw Road, Canastota and observed a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage as he spoke.  Field sobriety tests indicated that he was intoxicated and further investigation revealed that he had been driving with two children ages 10 and 5 in the truck.

Sarcione was taken into custody for DWI and a relative was notified to respond and remove the children.

Sarcione was processed at the Oneida state police barracks, where a breath test indicated he had a blood alcohol content of .21 percent. Sarcione was arraigned in the Town of Lenox Court for driving while intoxicated, two felony counts of aggravated DWI (Leandra’s Law), Aggravated DWI for driving with a BAC of .18 percent or greater, third-degree Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, Operating without insurance, Operating with a suspended registration, no child restraint, possession of an open container of alcohol in a vehicle and two counts of Endangering the welfare of a child.

Sarcione was remanded to the Madison County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond and is scheduled to reappear in Lenox Court at a later date.
