The Parkway Center recently installed a new AgeNet kiosk to provide seniors with resources and information that empowers them to remain healthy and active. AgeNet is a program established by the Oneida County Office for Aging and Continuing Care offering a network of digital health and wellness resources. The Parkway Center received a $4,300 grant from the Mele Family Fund of The Community Foundation of Herkimer & Oneida Counties to purchase the kiosk.
“As the services offered by the Parkway Center continue to grow, so has the request for information and resources available in our region related to health, wellness, transportation and volunteerism,” said Kelly Walters, executive director of the Parkway Center. “The AgeNet kiosk will enhance the Parkway Center’s communications by making this information readily available and easily accessible, not only for our members but the greater community as well.”
With a touch of their fingertips, kiosk users will have access to key information, including where to access services in our region. This will allow the Parkway Center to more efficiently and effectively serve the community.
“The Mele Family is committed to supporting programs that have a long-term impact on the health of our community,” said Ray Mele. “When seniors are able to safely live in the comfort of their home, they can age with dignity and independence. The AgeNet kiosk is a tremendous resource for seniors because it provides a comprehensive library of the tools and information needed to achieve this important goal.”
The Parkway Center, formerly known as the Parkway Senior Center, was established in 1960 with the mission to provide programs and services to individuals age 50 and over that empower them to live healthy and vibrant lives.
