After eight weeks of competition, participants in the Go Red Corporate Challenge celebrated their successes together Wednesday night. The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association hosted a Go Red Corporate Challenge Awards Ceremony at Utica College to recognize the efforts of teams and participants.

Teams from AmeriCU Credit Union; The Arc Oneida-Lewis Chapter, NYSARC; Par Technology; and Revere Copper Products, Inc.; spent eight weeks engaging in a workplace wellness challenge. The challenge focused on improving heart health by increasing physical activity.

These companies are role models in the Greater Utica area for helping employees live healthier lifestyles. Companies were awarded points based on activity, steps walked, healthy eating, and knowledge of heart health. The Challenge had an Olympic theme this year, so medal awards were presented to recognize outstanding contributions to the battle against heart disease:

Gold Medal………………………………….Revere Copper Products, Inc.

Silver Medal…………………………………Par Technology, Inc.

Bronze Medal……………………………….AmeriCU Credit Union

The companies that competed in the Go Red Corporate Challenge hope their participation will encourage other businesses in the Greater Utica area to follow suit and evaluate changes that can be made in the workplace to promote employee wellness. The rewards are obvious—enhanced quality of life for employees, reduced absenteeism, and increased productivity.

The Go Red Corporate Challenge is part of the Go Red For Women campaign in the Greater Utica area. The year-round campaign focuses on women’s heart health and culminates with the Go Red For Women Luncheon on May 4th at Danielle’s in New Hartford.
