Troopers discover meth lab inside Lewis County home
On March 29, 2018, at approx. 2 p.m., State Police in Carthage responded to 6337 Old State Road, in the town of Diana, Lewis County, for a reported physical domestic dispute where the female caller hung up and was not able to be re-contacted by the 911 center.
When troopers arrived at the residence, they knocked on both the front door and back door several times while announcing they were the police with no response. Troopers made forced entry into the front door of the residence to check the welfare of the female caller.
Once inside they located a female, Lindsey L. Babcock, 32, and her boyfriend Shane M. Jackson, 37, in the residence. While inside, they observed numerous items associated with meth manufacturing and both the occupants were detained. A search warrant was executed on the residence by members of the NYSP Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team, Community Narcotics Enforcement Team and the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.
As a result, numerous items associated with the manufacturing of methamphetamine were located inside the residence, along with approximately four liquid ounces of methamphetamine. Babcock and Jackson were charged with third-degree unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine (a class D felony) and second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (a class A felony).
They were arraigned in Diana Town Court and remanded to the Lewis County Jail without bail.
