15 annual “Taste of the Town” this Saturday, April 7, in a new location with a new partnership
The 15th annual “Taste of the Town” moves to the McVean Gym at Jefferson Community College from 11 to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2018. This exciting and successful fundraiser has become an annual favorite throughout the North Country, drawing more than 1,000 people each year.
“Taste of the Town” will feature approximately 30 local restaurants and businesses offering food and beverages for all to enjoy. Booths will be set up throughout the McVean Gymnasium at Jefferson Community College, featuring delicious sample-size servings of appetizers, entrees, desserts, beverages, and much more. A panel of local celebrity judges (Mel Busler, Chef Chris Manning, Pope Vickers and Gordon Block) will be on hand to award participating restaurants various honors. Musical entertainment will be provided by Tom Gagnon.
The event’s new Jefferson County Community College gymnasium location offers additional space for more restaurant and food and beverage participants, as well as more, easily-accessible parking. The event was previously held at the State Office Building in downtown Watertown.
Watertown Sunrise Rotary has partnered with the Northern New York Community Foundation to manage and disperse event proceeds. This partnership allows an additional local nonprofit to be awarded a $5,000 grant from Taste of the Town proceeds. The winner was chosen through RFP submissions and will be announced live at the event Saturday at about 12:30 p.m.
The 2018 Taste of the Town is graciously presented by its Title Sponsors: United Food Service Operators and Reinhart Food Service.
The partnerships between these organizations has allowed the community to once again benefit from a wonderful event showcasing area dining options, while giving proceeds back to the community.
