Madison County issues a travel advisory; county offices will close at 3 p.m.

Due to the winter storm and the expectation of freezing rain Madison County Sheriff Todd Hood has issued a ‘no unnecessary travel’ advisory for Madison County beginning at 3 p.m. to 7 a.m. Feb. 13, 2019.

The county will update this advisory if needed.

The advisory does not restrict travel but urges motorists to avoid driving due to hazardous conditions. If you are on the roads, take extreme caution, give yourself extra time to arrive at your destination and plenty of room to stop when approaching intersections and other vehicles.

Also, Madison County Offices will close at 3 p.m. due to the deteriorating weather. The National Weather Service in Binghamton reports that freezing rain and sleet will begin in Madison County between 3 and 6 p.m. and continue through the night. According to NWS Madison County can expect one-10th inch of ice to coat everything including the roads, trees and power lines.
