Visitors can travel back in time Saturday, Feb. 23 as the Rogers Environmental Education Center hosts a demonstration of old-time ice harvesting on Cunningham Ice Pond.
The pond was the site of ice harvesting well into the first half of the 20th century, as workers gathered to hand-cut blocks of ice for use in storing perishable food.
Former Rogers educator Fred von Mechow will explain and demonstrate ice harvesting on the pond between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m.
This family-friendly event is free and open to the public.
