IMG_4252alpacasEFD72(Seneca Falls, NY  – July 2013) A new Alpacas From Start to Finish exhibit has been added to the 2013 Empire Farm Days scheduled for Aug. 6 to 8. The exhibit will feature everything from live animals to finished products made with their fiber.

Oh, My! Alpacas Farm co-owner Susan Wissick is bringing two Huacaya alpacas, their recently-shorn fleeces, roving for spinners, and finished rugs, hats, mittens and other products made with the spun alpaca fiber. Demonstrations throughout the day will include spinners working with the alpaca roving.

A+ Alpaca Fiber Mill and Riverside Alpacas owners Chris and Mickey Gilman will have alpacas at the exhibit to interact with the public and will answer questions about alpacas as a livestock choice and the professional processing of alpaca fiber. They will have products for sale and demonstrate weaving alpaca fiber into scarves and rugs.

‘This exhibit represents a complete alpaca operation from start to finish. We will be on hand to answer questions from those looking to buy their first animals to people who are interested in working with the fiber or in having their fiber professionally processed,’ said Wissick.

Empire Farm Days covers 300 acres with exhibits by 600-plus representatives of agricultural manufacturers, institutions and organizations. Admission is free; parking is $10. Find a full schedule of activities at www.empirefarmdays.com.
