eoy-demarco2012(Utica, NY – Jan. 4, 2013)  The staff of the Cardiac Research Institute at Masonic Medical Research Laboratory (MMRL) recently honored John DeMarco as the 2012 Employee of the Year at their annual holiday party. DeMarco joined the MMRL staff in 2010 as a Maintenance facility technician.

Dr. Alexander Burashnikov and Gabriel Caceres, co-recipients of the award last year, announced the 2012 Employee of the Year.

In response to his selection John said, “Coming to the MMRL after being laid off by Daimler Bus was my great fortune. I feel like I am realizing my full potential at the MMRL and enjoy working with a great group of scientists and administrative personnel.”

MMRL Executive Director and Director of Research, Dr. Charles Antzelevitch said, “John possesses a wealth of knowledge and skills and has proved to be a great asset to our Maintenance Department.  He approaches every task with professionalism, proficiency and with a smile.  This recognition by the staff is a most well deserved honor.”

John, a Mohawk Valley native, lives in Utica with his daughter Jodie.
