Student-Athletes Named to Green and Gold Club

(Herkimer, NY – Jan. 10, 2013) Herkimer County Community College has named two student-athletes to the Green and Gold Club for December 2012.

The Male Athlete of the Month is Jon Feiler, Men’s Basketball, St. James, NY. A Liberal Arts & Sciences: General Studies student, Feiler is a tri-captain for the Generals. Coach Matt Lee said “Jon’s hard work and determination has led us to our current ranking of 4^th in the country and Number one in Region III. He is turning into a very versatile player.” Coach Lee added, “We are expecting big things from Jon in the upcoming weeks, as we head toward the second half of our season.”

The Female Athlete of the Month is Kaitlin Winnie, Women’s Swimming and Diving, Accord, NY. A Liberal Arts & Sciences: Physical Education freshman, Winnie has improved her 50 freestyle time in a short period, a difficult thing to do in a sprinting event, according to Coach Vicki Brown. “She works incredibly hard in practice, and is quick to ask how she can continue to improve. Kaitlin is proving to be a huge asset to the women’s team. She’s an incredible team leader and is respected by her teammates.
