(Morrisville, NY – March 2013) The Morrisville State College Theatre Department and Student Government Organization (SGO) will present the musical, Grease, in the Little Theatre of the John W. Stewart Center for Student Activities (STUAC) on the Morrisville State College campus.

Show times are: March 15-17, and 21-23 at 8 p.m. A matinee performance will be held March 17 at 2 p.m.

The 1972 musical, by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, goes back to the 1950’s at Ryder High School and follows 10 teens who struggle to handle issues like teen pregnancy and gang violence. The story revolves around two teens, Danny Zuko and Sandy Dumbrowski, who are set to go back to school as summer ends with their love unresolved.

Throughout the show, they will try to carry over their summer love to high school while also dealing with every day high school issues. The supporting cast will also deal with issues of their own. The audiences will be entertained with a clever arrangement of dance, songs and narratives which tell the story of the teens, fromlove, friendship, teenage rebellion, popularity and sexual exploration.

Grease’s musicals include familiar tunes such as Summer Nights, Greased Lightnin’, Beauty School Dropout, and You’re the One That I Want. Hopelessly Devoted to You, composed by John Farrar, and Sandywritten by Louis St. Louis and Scott Simon, from the 1978 movie starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, are also included in the production.

General admission is $8 for adults and $3 for students. Tickets can also be purchased at the door. For more ticket information, call 684-6238 weekdays between 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
