Introduction to Botanical Watercolor Presented
(Oneida, NY – March 2013) On Saturday March 23 at the Madison County Historical, the society will host its second Heritage Handicraft Workshop, Introduction to Botanical Watercolor from 1:30 to 4 p.m.
Pamela Vogan Lynch, a professional artist and retired Director of Art for the Oneida City School District will be the instructor. Basic drawing tips and beginning watercolor techniques as they relate to painting flowers will be taught. Participants will be able to select from a variety of flowers to paint. Painting flowers in watercolor is as popular in the 21st century as it was back in the 1800s. Victorians were fascinated by the natural world and the study of botany. Men, women, and children would collect a variety of plant species to later sketch and paint the natural world around them.
Reservations for the workshop are required as space is limited to 12 participants. The cost of the workshop is $15 for members and $20 for nonmembers.
