(Brockport, NY – March 12, 2013)  James Bardenett (Syracuse, NY/Henninger) of The College at Brockport Baseball team has been named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Pitcher of the Week after tying the career wins record in an 11-3 victory over St. Joseph’s College on Sunday.

The senior hurler picked up his second win of the season, giving him 18 for his career. Bardenett is now tied with former Golden Eagle pitchers Ben Kimball and Jason Shannon. Bardenett tied the single-season wins record last season with nine.

The right-hander pitched five shutout innings against St. Joseph’s, allowing four hits while striking out eight batters and walking two. Bardenett has now struck out 16 batters in two appearances this year while walking just three batters.

Bardenett has not lost a decision in his last nine appearances dating back to last season and has posted a 0.98 earned run average during that span.

This is the fourth Pitcher of the Week award for the senior. Bardenett won the award three times last season, including the final two weeks.

The Golden Eagles return to action with a nonconference matchup against RIT on Tuesday at 2:30 pm. Brockport will head to its annual Spring Training Trip in Central Florida on Wednesday.
