(North Syracuse, NY – March 15, 2013) David RenzThe New York State Police, assisted by the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, is investigating an abduction of a woman and a 10 year-old child, which resulted in the death of 47 year-old, Lori A. Bresnahan, from Liverpool.

The incident began shortly before 9 p.m. last evening, at the Great Northern Mall in Clay, when the woman and child were accosted.  The suspect bound the woman and raped the child in their vehicle and then drove the victim’s car a short distance to Verplank Road in the Town of Clay.

The child was able to flee from the vehicle and was assisted by a passing motorist.  The woman was transported to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse with multiple stab wounds where she was later pronounced deceased.  The child is currently being treated at the hospital for injuries related to the attack.

The suspect, David J. Renz, 29, from 6526 Lakeshore Road in the Town of Cicero, was arrested a short distance from the scene by BCI Investigator Gary Darstein.  After consultation with the Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office, Renz was charged with first-degree Rape, a class “B” felony, first-degree kidnapping, a class “A-1” felony, second-degree murder, a class “A-1” felony, and first-degree Murder, a class “A-1” felony.

State Police were assisted at the scene by Onondaga County Sheriff’s Air-1 and responding patrols.
