(Verona, NY – March 2013) Fred “Fritz” Scherz, Jr., Councilman on the Verona Town Board and band leader of Fritz’s Polka Band, was one of eight honorees at the 2013 Follow the Leader Award Dinner hosted by Leadership Mohawk Valley (LMV) on March 13.
“I am honored to have won this very prestigious award,” Scherz said. “Many thanks to Brandon Lovett for nominating me, the LMV Awards Committee for selecting me, and to my loving family for supporting me and assisting me with the various community events I like to host. This is the highest individual honor I’ve ever received in my professional career, and I’m very, very appreciative for it. “
“I also want to thank Asssemblyman Ken Blankenbush for the New York State Assembly Citation and Senator Joe Griffo for the New York State Senate Certificate of Recognition they each gave me because of the LMV honor. I’m proud to be a member of the LMV Class of 2011, too. The Mohawk Valley is a great place to live, and this organization really strives to make the Mohawk Valley a better place.
