(Herkimer, NY – March 27, 2013) The Plastic Faction” will take the stage at 8:00pm in the TV studio on the campus of Herkimer County Community College on Friday, March 29. Students enrolled in various media degree programs at HCCC will produce “Play to the Camera” live on HCTV channel 99.
Instructor of Radio-Television Broadcasting Douglas Flanagan says that the program is truly a cooperative effort. The Plastic Faction’s drummer is Dave Glantz, a current Radio-Television Broadcasting major, and the crew will consist of students in the various media programs including Radio-Television Broadcasting, Music Industry, Digital Filmmaking, and Communication Arts: New Media.
Flanagan says that “Play to the Camera” not only offers HCCC musicians a chance to perform on live television, but it also gives other media degree students experience in studio based video production. Students will be operating the studio cameras, video switcher, graphics systems, teleprompter, audio boards, and video server systems.
A live studio audience is needed. Interested audience members will be part of the live telecast. Seating is limited and will be offered on a first come-first served basis. Audience seating will open at approximately 7:30pm in the TV studio, room TC109.
Jason Davis, Assistant Professor of Music Industry at HCCC, says “Play to the Camera” is “a good cross pollination of music and media at HCCC. It covers it all—live sound, pre-production, promotion, and performance.” This is the third production of “Play to the Camera.” In March, the show featured acoustic performer “Billy Mucha” (Music Industry major) and “Zach and Mary” (Mary Dziekowicz—Music Industry Major). “The Birdseed Bandits,” with three of the four members being former or current Music Industry students performed on the first show in November 2012.
The entire program will also be recorded live into HCCC’s Pro Tools and Avid Media Composer editing systems for later post production. It will be uploaded to the HCCC Radio-Television YouTube channel and it will also run in encore presentations on HCTV Channel 99.
