(Fairfield, NY – May 5, 2013) The New York State Police in Herkimer is investigating a one car fatal accident in the Town of Fairfield, Herkimer County. Jordon S. Gross, 23, from 54 East Main St. in Middleville was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Impala northbound on State Route 28 in the Town of Fairfield, north of Huyck Road when he lost control and exited the west shoulder striking several trees.
Gross was pronounced dead at the scene.
Passenger Zackary S. Edwards, 23, from 124 Kelly Road in the Town of Little Falls was airlifted to Saint Elizabeth’s hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The State Police was assisted by the Middleville Fire department. Cause of death is pending autopsy.
Speed was determined to be a factor. Investigation is pending.
