United Way’s community-wide Diaper Drive was a success in its second year collecting more than 7,000 diapers and supplies throughout the month of April. Area workplaces held internal drives to collect supplies. Community members also donated at the public donation site in Target at Sangertown Square. Other service organizations and clubs joined the drive collecting supplies among their membership.

The diapers and supplies are being distributed to nine area programs in Herkimer and Oneida Counties including sites in Ilion, Herkimer, West Winfield, Clark Mills, Holland Patent, and Utica. These sites will utilize the diapers for programs servicing area babies and families in need.

“It is amazing to have community partners, workplaces, and individuals come together for the second year in a row to support families in our local community,” Executive Director Brenda Episcopo said. “United Way is honored to be the conduit of this and many other great efforts to better our community as a whole throughout the year.”

Public distribution sites have been set up in both counties. The Oneida County distribution site is at the Corasanti Children’s Center at UCP, 326 Catherine Street, Utica, NY 13501. The Herkimer County distribution site is at Catholic Charities of Herkimer County, 61 West Street, Ilion, NY 13357.
