(Verona, NY – May 24, 2013) Caren Marsh-Doll, a 1940’s Hollywood icon, will hold a meet and greet event at Turning Stone Resort Casino May 30.
Marsh-Doll, now 94 years old, was the stand-in for Judy Garland during the filming of the 1939 classic, “The Wizard of Oz.” She went on to co-star with Bob Steele in 1945’s “The Navajo Kid,” and opposite Alan Ladd in 1947’s “Wild Harvest,” in addition to being featured as a dancer in scores of Hollywood musicals. She also acted on Broadway. Marsh-Doll is the guest of the Oneida Indian Nation for Chittenango’s Oz-Stravaganza weekend.
The Oneida Nation is a presenting sponsor of Oz-Stravaganza.
Marsh-Doll will greet Wizard of Oz fans and offer for sale signed copies of her autobiography, “Hollywood’s Babe,” Thursday, May 30 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Emerald Lobby of Turning Stone Resort Casino.
The 35th annual Oz-Stravaganza pays tribute to Chittenango native and “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” author L. Frank Baum. This year’s festival runs May 31 – June 2 in the village of Chittenango, with the signature parade Saturday, June 1 at 2 p.m. Caren Marsh-Doll rides as the guest of honor on the Oneida Nation’s float, which carries this year’s Oz-Stravaganza theme of “The Patchwork of Oz.” This year will mark Marsh-Doll’s fourth appearance at Oz-Stravaganza.
