There was a particular moment in Linsey Grover’s life when she was faced with a choice. Will she sink or will she swim? Instead she chose to soar. Linsey Layne Boutique is owned and operated by Linsey and inspired by her son Layne.
In 2006, Linsey graduated college with a degree in Biology and worked as a scientist for the past 5 years. On May 6th, 2011 her son Layne was born. He was absolutely beautiful and looked perfect, but things were very far from perfect. Not only was he born two and a half months early, he was born with a rare genetic disorder called Prader-Willi Syndrome. After being in the NICU for 3 months Linsey’s maternity leave had ended, and she made the decision to quit her job.
From there Linsey Layne Jewelry was born with solely her hand-made jewelry. She sold online, at home-parties, and craft fairs. The demand became so high that making every piece of jewelry was not possible. She began attending fashion shows and started doing retail. Selling jewelry grew into handbags, then scarves, and now clothing. When 56 Genesee Street became available she saw a great opportunity. She moved her home studio to this new location and expanded into Linsey Layne Boutique. The boutique is very small but has an inspiring vintage feel to it.
“I was able to turn my worst nightmare into something beautiful. When someone walks into my boutique I want them to be inspired. There is more to my boutique than just jewelry and clothing. There is a feeling of inspiration, risk taking, and hope. And I want to inspire everyone I meet,” said Linsey.
Linsey Layne Boutique offers a selection of jewelry, handbags, scarves, and clothing all hand picked by Linsey which are all boutique quality. The Boutique is open Wednesday to Friday 11-8pm, Saturday 11-4pm, and Sunday 11-2pm and 24/7 at www.linseylaynejewelry.com.
