(Verona, NY – June 17, 2013) Wolf Clan member of the Oneida Nation Council Chuck Fougnier presented a ceremonial check to the Verona Fire District, representing the Oneida Nation’s $100,000 annual service agreement. The payments are made in quarterly installments of $25,000 each. The money goes into the district’s general fund, which helps pay for items like firefighter protective equipment.
The Oneida Nation has paid the Verona Fire District over $1.3 million under the agreement forged in 1993. Verona provides fire protection and rescue services to Turning Stone Resort Casino and other Oneida Nation properties in the district in conjunction with the Nation’s Public Safety Department.
