“We’re proud to have another great event planned and two great causes to help people in need from throughout Jefferson County,” said Mike Campbell, event organizer. “We’re bringing great entertainment into Sackets Harbor with a showcase of some of the best food, drink and crafts made in the State of New York. We’ve lowered ticket prices and at just $10, you can’t beat the entertainment value for this festival. Plus, every dollar raised goes to Meals on Wheels and the Urban Mission. Bring the whole family. It’s sure to be a great time.”
Campbell said that advance ticket sales are on the rise at each of the locations.
New in 2013, Clarence Henry Coach will be running a free shuttle bus service from the Ramada Inn and Holiday Inn Express in Watertown to the festival grounds in Sackets Harbor and back on the hour throughout the festival. This gives people a safe way to save on gas, and get to and from the event at no charge.
The event showcases New York State agricultural, farm and home-based businesses. Also new is a statewide classic and vintage auto “Cruise In” presented by the Watertown-based Highway Legends Classic Auto Club.
In addition to Foghat and Tyler Bryant, the event will feature bands from across Central and Northern New York with the “Bob Greco Band” from Rochester, “Ferguson, Taylor and Rogers,” and “Fred and the Ed’s,” from Watertown, and “The Todd Hobin Band,” from Syracuse. Each of these bands performs throughout Central and Northern New York.
Blues-rock legends Foghat have toured the world, recorded 18 albums, including three that hit the top 25 on the U.S. Billboard Charts, with hit singles that include “Fool for the City” and “Slow Ride.” Tyler Bryant & the Shakedown are led by guitar prodigy Tyler Bryant, who was featured with Jeff Beck and Carlos Santana in the film “Rock Prophecies.” The band has toured the U.S., recorded two albums, performed on national television, and was a crowd favorite at the 2012 Made In NY Festival.
“We are so thankful for the work done by Mike, our sponsors, the community, and all who are volunteering to do everything they can to make this event a success,” said Donna White, executive director for Meals on Wheels of Greater Watertown. “This festival has been a wonderful success for us the past two years and we are so pleased to see this year’s event coming together so well. It’s a great way for the community come together to support two great local organizations and local businesses all while getting some great entertainment.”
Meals on Wheels of Greater Watertown helps seniors and shut ins who need meals delivered to help ensure proper nutrition. The local program depends on community donations and volunteer support in providing about 18,000 meals per year throughout Jefferson County.
“We are so excited to be a part of this great event this year and we are so grateful to our sponsors, Mike, the event volunteers and all of you who will attend this fun event in support of your community,” said Erika Flint, executive director of the Watertown Urban Mission. “This has been a tremendously successful event over the past couple of years and a great option for the 4th of July weekend. We are honored to be in partnership with such a worthwhile organization as Meals on Wheels and hope that everyone has a great time celebrating all that New York has to offer.”
The Watertown Urban Mission operates six major programs to help individuals and families in need with food, drink, clothing, household goods, housing, prescription costs, medical transportation costs, overcoming addiction and more. In 2012, the Mission helped neighbors in need from throughout Jefferson County more than 35,000 times.
