(Lafayette, NY – July 2013) The Central New York Bluegrass Association announces the 3rd Annual Jamfest to be held from noon Aug. 16 until noon Aug. 18 at the Lafayette Apple Festival Grounds, Route 20, Lafayette,

Jamfest was born to promote and encourage Bluegrass, Olde Tyme Country, and Gospel music in CNY. Established players and new learners are invited to come out and jam, listen to bands, visit with old and new friends, and enjoy a family-friendly summer weekend.

Held at the Lafayette Apple Festival Grounds people out invited to come Friday, Saturday or the entire weekend. Camping is free, electric available for a nominal fee. Apple barns are easily accessed. Gates close at noon on Sunday Aug. 18.

Come out Friday and jam from noon until the last jam is done. Open mic is from noon to 5 p.m. noon to 5 p.m., the Music of Nature hike starts at at 5:30 p.m. and the Square Dance  with Bob Nicholson calling is held from 7 to 9 p.m.

Saturday features eight CNY bands: The Rusty Doves of Utica, Pigeon Post String Band, Lake Effect Bluegrass, Zeke Leonard and the Syraukes, Easy Ramblers, Midnight Legion, Casual Plaid (five Marcellus high school students), and Diamond Someday Bluegrass, playing noon to 8 p.m.

Jams will be held throughout the day, each in a special location. Bluegrass Only Jam (all day), Old Time Country & Gospel (all day), Future Grass Youth Jam led by Sean King & Casual Plaid (2 to 4 p.m.), Slow Jam led by artist Shirley Stevens of Diamond Someday, activities and entertainment for kids noon to 5 p.m. with Anna, and Nature of Music Hike at 5:30 p.m. The Moonlight Jam begins at 9 p.m.

Sunday is the Gospel Jam from 9 to 11 a.m. Gates close at noon.

Tickets sell for $5 on Friday, $10 on Saturday, the Gospel Jam is free, all kids 16 and under free with a paying adult.

Refreshments will be available Friday and Saturday.

CNYBA is co-marketing with Baltimore Woods Nature Center of Marcellus, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the youth program at Baltimore Woods.
