(Westmoreland, NY – Sept. 1, 2013) State Police arrested Devon T. Brantley, age 17, from Syracuse and Ricky B. Woods Jr., 16, from Utica after crashing a stolen car outside of the Westmoreland exit of the New York State Thruway.
At approximately 11:45 a.m. Sept. 1, Troopers attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding when the vehicle failed to comply, passed through the Westmoreland toll booth (exit 32) and crashed into a guide rail. Both suspects fled on foot from the vehicle.
Woods was taken into custody at the scene; Brantley fled on foot and was later apprehended.
Devon Brantley was charged with the following:
Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd degree, a class “D” felony
Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, a class “A” misdemeanor
Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd, a class “A” misdemeanor
Resisting Arrest, a class “A” misdemeanor
Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, a violation
Brantley was arraigned in the Town of Westmoreland Town Court and is remanded to the Oneida County Jail on no bail.
Ricky Woods Jr., was charged with the following:
Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th (Cocaine), a class “D” felony
Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, a class “D” felony
Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, a class A” misdemeanor
Obstructing Governmental Administration, a class “A” misdemeanor
Resisting Arrest, a class “A” misdemeanor
Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, a violation
Woods was arraigned in the Town of Floyd Court and remanded to the Oneida County Jail on $25,000 bail.
