Girl Scouts New Use this(Syracuse, NY – Sept. 2013)  The Erie Canal Museum in Syracuse is offering three programs for girls in kindergarten through fifth grade. New members are welcome and pre-registration is required.

 

  • The Daisy Responsibility Garden is open to girls in kindergarten and first grade. The program is being held on October 5 from 1-3 p.m. The rain date is October 26. Girls will read Mari’s Story, learn the importance of responsibility, plant a flower garden at the museum, and end with cupcakes and ice cream. Girls will return in May to check on their flowers and earn the Responsible for What I Say and Do petal. Troops should bring bulbs to plant in their own section of the garden. The cost to attend is $5 per girl. The registration deadline is September 23.

 

  • The Wonders of Water Overnight is open to girls in second and third grades. The program is taking place from 6 p.m. on October 11 to 9 a.m. on October 12. Girls that attend will explore the Wonders of Water Journey, part of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. Girls will take part in a variety of hands-on activities that focus on the beauties of water and the importance of conservation. The cost to attend is $10 per girl and the registration deadline is October 4.

 

  • The Playing the Past Overnight is open to girls in fourth and fifth grades. The program is taking place from 6 p.m. on October 18 to 9 a.m. on October 19. Girls will travel back in time and learn what life was like during the Canal era. Girls will take part in activities, games, and historical exploration that celebrates the role of women in history and the life of the Erie Canal. The cost to attend is $15 per girl and the registration deadline is October 4.

Girls that are not currently registered members of Girl Scouts can attend any of these programs by paying an additional $15 annual Girl Scout membership fee.
