(Herkimer, NY – Sept. 2013) Herkimer County Community College (HCCC) President Ann Marie Murray recently announced the opening of the selection process for the 2014 class of Torchbearer Award recipients.
The Torchbearer Awards are presented every five years to recognize individuals who have made substantial contributions to the College’s development, with particular attention given to those whose contributions were made in the first 20 years of the College’s history (1966 – 1986). Recipients may be nominated posthumously. Award recipients are recognized with a plaque prominently displayed in the Robert McLaughlin College Center lobby. The next class of Torchbearer Award recipients will be recognized at a special ceremony in October 2014.
Past honorees include: Dr. Donald Gavagan; Anthony Cosentino; Dr. Joseph DeLorenzo; Jean Stapleton; Frank Menapace; Dr. James Anderson; Bess Cristman; Frederick Juer; Virgil Johnson; Harold Luther; Richard Jorrey; Robert McLaughlin; Robert Boyle; Dr. H. David Trautlein; Col. James Hill; Grace McLaughlin; Robert VanDusen; Dr. Robert Dorrance; and John Thayer.
Nominations for the 2014 Torchbearer Awards should be sent to Daniel Sargent, Assistant to the President, Herkimer County Community College, 100 Reservoir Rd., Herkimer, NY 13350. All nominations must be received by the close of business on Friday, October 4, 2013.
