(Clinton, NY – Oct. 11, 2013) The North Central New York Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans recently presented a check to Trinity Lutheran Church, Herkimer in the amount of $932 to cover the costs of replacing education ministry materials destroyed in the summer flooding. These materials are a vital part of the church’s Sunday school program as well as its Junior and Senior Youth Group activities.
Accepting the check was The Reverend Ann Zimmerman, pastor at Trinity who said upon presentation, “This is such a blessing for us, as you can imagine. The total loss of all our books, materials and supplies for our young people was devastating. We still have a way to go but Thrivent’s donation will help us on the road to recovery.”
Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is a not-for-profit Fortune 500 financial services organization helping nearly 3 million members achieve financial security and give back to their communities. The local Chapter meets monthly at Lutheran Care in Clinton to review local funding requests and disburse funds where needed. Lutheran Disaster Response is based at LutheranCare, as well.
