(Lee, NY – Dec. 6, 2013) State Police in Lee are investigating a fatal one-car motor vehicle accident that occurred during the early morning hours of Dec. 6 on Sulpher Springs Road in Lee Center.
The investigation revealed a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche, driven by Stephen C. Burke Jr., age 22, was traveling on Sulpher Springs Road north of Belcher when he lost control and struck a tree.
The passenger of the vehicle, Charles J. Melnick Jr, age 24, of Holland Patent was pronounced dead at the scene.
Burke was transported to Rome hospital with minor injuries.
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
