(Herkimer, NY – Feb. 13, 2014) Herkimer College has named two student-athletes to the Green and Gold Club for January 2014.
The Male Athlete of the Month is Adam Kozecke of Endwell. Kozecke is a Liberal Arts & Sciences: Science major at Herkimer College. He bowled an impressive 675 series in his first competitive match as a General. Highlighting that series was a 298 high score; the second best in the Mountain Valley Conference to date.
Coach P.J. Anadio commented on Kozecke’s early success by saying, “Adam has been a great addition to our Men’s Bowling Team here at Herkimer College. Right out of the gate, he put up two 200 games followed by a near 300 game, just missing on his last shot to record a 298.”
The Female Athlete of the Month is Shahadah Williams of Syracuse, a Liberal Arts & Sciences: Science major at Herkimer College. A member of the Women’s Basketball Team, she is known for her high-energy play on the court, specifically on the glass, where she has accumulated 12 games of 10 plus rebounds. Against both Broome and Schenectady, Williams tallied 15 rebounds, her season high, but also added 18 points against the Hornets, which was the most she scored in a game to date. In total, Williams has five double doubles, and she’s averaged 11.8 points, 11 rebounds and 3.3 steals per game.
Coach B.J. Gouger said “Shahadah has played well during the second semester, bringing consistent energy to both our defense and press. That effort has placed her at 15th in the nation in offensive rebounds and fifth in Region III in rebounds per game.”
