Schmidt(March 2014) Sirchia & Cuomo, LLP, a Central New York accounting and consulting firm, is proud to announce that Mark A. Schmidt, CPA, CVA, has been promoted to Partner.

As the point person for many of the tax-related needs of Sirchia & Cuomo’s clients, Mark works with people in a variety of industries with a special emphasis on those in the contracting and healthcare fields, as well as small business owners. He brings an expertise in multi-state taxation, FAS 109 calculations, and cost segregation studies; and also performs highly specialized work pertaining specifically to dental offices. In addition, as a Certified Valuation Analyst, Mark works closely with individuals as well as the business and legal communities, providing support in the areas of business valuation and matrimonial litigation.

Mark is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), AICPA Forensic Accounting and Business Valuation Services Group, New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts, Nathaniel Rochester Society, and Lowenthal Business Group. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Rochester Institute of Technology as well as a Masters in Accountancy from SUNY Institute of Technology.

Mark is a dedicated volunteer, holding several notable positions in his community over the years. He is the founding member of the Financial Knowledge Institute’s Syracuse Chapter and the founder and organizer of the Dave Park Scholarship Fund and its annual fundraiser. He is a member of Leadership Greater Syracuse and a past member of its Finance Committee.

Mark is also an AYSO soccer coach and a graduate of the Mentoring for Awareness and Dale Carnegie programs. In the past, Mark has served as vice president of Canine Working Companions, treasurer of Wanderer’s Rest Humane Society, was a member of CNY Edge and acted as a team captain for Relay for Life.
