To the Editor:
(Utica, NY – May 2014) On Monday May 12 at Teugega Country Club in Rome, golfers enjoyed a beautiful day on the course to support the Revolutionary Trails Council, BSA. The event grossed more than $25,000, and the Council would like to thank everyone who helped to make our Annual BSA Golf Classic a success with a special thanks to our generous sponsors: Morgan Stanley, Oneida Savings Bank and New York Sash; golf committee and volunteers lead by Joannie Grande; Steve Campanaro, PGA Head Professional and his team, as well as Rich Kazlauskas and Chef Swiss at Teugega Country Club.
The Golf Classic is one of several fundraisers that support many of the programs offered by the Council:
• Learning for Life afterschool program, which provides mentoring and tutoring assistance to at-risk youth in Utica and Rome;
• Character Days, which gets students out of school for a day and into one of our camps for team building, communications skills, and leadership challenges;
• Explorer Clubs (6 – 8th graders) and Posts (9th – 12th grade), which expose students to 12 different career areas;
• Assistance to Individuals (specifically membership and camperships), which allows us to register youth who could financially not be part of the program, without our help.
We have a great group of leaders and residents here in the Mohawk Valley and the Revolutionary Trails Council appreciates the ongoing support it receives from the community. Your generosity helps to make a difference in the lives of our youth.
