(New Hartford, NY – May 2014) Members of the Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways have re-elected Sara Ayala of New Hartford as chair of the council’s Board of Directors. Also elected was Terry Plizga of Deerfield as a member-at-large.
The election took place during the Girl Scout’s Annual Meeting held at Onondaga Community College in Syracuse. Ayala and Plizga join other Board Members in their mission to provide leadership, innovation and constant support to the Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways and its 26-county jurisdiction.
Ayala is a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the US Air Force. She is a graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology and the University of Washington and has a 32-year career in management, program management, and acquisition management in communications, networking, and computers. Ayala also works part time for the 5th District Court as a permanency mediator, volunteers with the Peacemaker Program in Utica and mediates Family Court and Small Claims situations.
Plizga is Vice President of M&T Bank in CNY Business and Professional Banking. She is past chair of the GSNYPENN Board of Directors, recently chaired the Board Development Committee and currently serves on the Property Master Planning Task Group.
Volunteers in today’s Girl Scouts meet other adults that become life-long friends, have flexible Girl Scout schedules to mesh with their busy lives, and can work directly with girls or indirectly make an impact on girls by working in administrative positions.
