90 employees will lose jobs

(Syracuse NY – June 27, 2014)  The Scotsman Media Group announced the closing of its printing operations in Syracuse and Chenango Bridge.

The Valley News, publishing in Fulton will not be impacted by this decision.

“The closing of the Scotsman Media Group is not a reflection of the ability or skills of the company’s leadership or employees. The result is due to unforeseen business circumstances beyond the company’s control,” said company President William Veit, noting that his attempt to acquire the business or obtain additional financing was ultimately unsuccessful.

Incorporated in 1954, most recently Scotsman served hundreds of publishers through its commercial printing services to customers throughout Central New York. As a publisher the company produced, Today’s CNY Woman, Finger Lakes Vacationer, and the $ In Your Pocket coupon book, and built its business around its former Pennysaver products. The closure will result in the layoff of approximately 90 employees.

The Scotsman Media Group will cease printing effective Thursday July 3.
