(Westmoreland, NY – July 2014) The Food Bank of Central New York won the race. The Boilermaker Road Race? In a sense, yes. The partnership of five sponsors of the Boilermaker Road Race, created a promotion utilizing an iconic road race and its iconic, namesake burger – The Boilermaker Burger.
The New York Beef Council along with Babe’s Macaroni Grill, Carmella’s Cafe the Boilermaker and Town Square Medias (TSM) radio stations teamed together to promote the sale of the Boilermaker Burger this year. Each burger sold resulted in 50 cents being donated to the Food Bank of CNY. In addition to the burger donation, TSM radio stations encouraged listeners to buy a burger and donate on line towards the Food Bank of CNY
The result? A grand total of $670 will be donated to the Food Bank of CNY. Lynn Hy, Director of Philanthropy & Development is excited; “this grand total will help us acquire and distribute enough food for more than 1,664 meals and is a tremendous feat for the first year of this endeavor.”
The Boilermaker Burger was created for the Boilermaker Road Race four years ago. The combined efforts of Boilermaker sponsors helped create an amazing burger that is only offered in participating restaurants for five weeks during “Boilermaker Season”. This year, all entities involved wanted to give back to a charity as a way to say “thank you” to the success of the burger. All partners hope this endeavor will live on for future Boilermaker’s to come.
