(Morrisville, NY – Oct. 2014) Join us at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, for the “Live Oaks & Dead Folks” Historic Talk. Join village and town historian Sue Greenhagen for this virtual tour of the Oakwood Cemetery. Meet some famous, infamous and even bizarre residents of the historic Oakwood Cemetery in Syracuse.

We will be closed on Monday October 13 to observe Columbus Day.

Kiddies Korner, our preschool story hour has begun. Come join us Tuesday, Oct. 14, for the author of the “Mac the Dog” series, Tamara Cantanaro. She will have books to sell and sign that day, as well. If you can’t make that day, come hear stories about Pets at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21.

Join us at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, for our Family Movie Night. Bring the family in for popcorn and a movie. We will be showing the movie, Mr. Peabody & Sherman. This will prove solidly entertaining for families seeking a fast-paced, funny cartoon adventure. We provide the popcorn, you provide your beverage.

Stop in to the library and pick up your pumpkin coloring contest entry today. You have until 4 p.m. Oct. 18 to turn in your creations for judging. Open to toddlers through-sixth-graders. Winners will be announced at our Halloween party at the end of the month.

Tai Chi Chuan Class is back for another year. Join Professor Bill Snyder as he facilitates at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20. Best part? It’s free. If you can’t make this day, they meet again Monday, Oct. 27, too.

On Thursday, Oct. 23, join us for “No Votes for Women” presentation/book signing at 6:30 p.m. Join local author Susan Goodier as she talks about her book, No Votes for Women: The New York State Anti-Suffrage Movement. She will explore the complicated history of the suffrage movement in New York state by delving into the stories of women who opposed the expansion of voting rights for women. Will definitely be an enlightening talk. Books will be available for purchase and signing at the end of the evening.

On Friday, Oct. 24, we are having our annual Halloween Party at 6:30 p.m. Wear your costumes and join us for a spooky celebration. We will not only announce the winners of the pumpkin coloring contest, but play fun and games and make cool crafts, too.

Michelle Rounds is library manager for the Morrisville Public Library. The library is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from noon to 8 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
