(Herkimer, NY- March 2015) On Feb. 26, Herkimer County 4-H members participated in 4-H Public Presentations, held at the Herkimer High School. Thirty-nine 4-H youths, from all over Herkimer County, took turns giving illustrated talks or demonstrations in front of judges that evaluated their presentation skills. Youth presented on many topics including Volcanoes, Phases of the Moon, Swedish Brownies and many others.

Special thanks go out to our volunteer evaluators for taking the time to evaluate and work with our youth.  The evaluators for the event were John Skinner, Sue Culver, Sheryl Taylor, Sarah Hardy and Ed Smith.

By participating in this event, 4-H youth improve their public speaking ability while developing self-confidence, poise, self-esteem, stage presence and knowledge, giving them an advantage over their peers in this lifetime skills area. These skills will be useful in their future social, educational and career pursuits.

Cloverbuds who participated in the event were:  Luke and Paige Alesia, Alea Burger, Hailey Carnright, Kayden Ford, Logan and Lucas Humphreville,Austin Jones, Lily Payne and James Simon.

Traditional 4-H members who participated in the event were:  Bo, Issac andJordynn Alesia, Kelly Allen, Alexandria Burger, Hannah Carnright, AnNi andNathaniel Carroll, Anna and Laura Culver, Virginia Culver, Kaitlyn Fitch,Kennedy Rose Kapp, Weston Kelley, Shaylee Kiger, Katie Livingston, Kyle Long, Kassi March, Kourtney and Kylie Mazurowski, Jakob Payne, Ben, Brocand McCaylia Plungis, Bella Raux, Abigail Reed, Bennett Schoonover,  Madesen and Denten Spellman.

The following 4-H members will be going on to the District 4-H Public Presentations, on April 11 in Oneida County, are Juniors (8-12) Bo Alesia, Laura Culver andAbigail Reed.  Seniors (13-19) Jordynn Alesia, Alexandria Burger, McCaylia Plungis and Bella Raux.
