(Utica, NY – March 2015) On Friday, Sept. 11 TEDxUtica will hold its third event in Utica.

The organizing team is currently seeking speakers to share a big idea that will inspire change, growth and momentum. Speakers will have an opportunity to bring their idea to a group of thinkers, leaders, and change-makers from this community, and beyond, with an 8-12 minute talk.

The 2015 TEDxUtica theme is 1Square Block: the exploration of how an individual or an idea can grow to make a change, build a movement, or make a difference. The beginning of something big always starts with something small – one individual, one word, one pixel, one brick, one room, one building, one street or one square block. What can we do with one square block to change an entire community?

TEDxUtica speakers will have the opportunity for collaboration and engagement with an audience from the Greater Utica Area who is passionate and open-minded. The talk that is presented will also be made available via live webstream and online on the TEDxUtica website following the conference. There is also the possibility of talks being featured on TED.com, which attracts a large global audience on a daily basis.

Those interested in submitting a proposal to speak are encouraged to apply online at www.tedxutica.com. Included should be a brief biography of the applicant, the abbreviated version of their “big idea,” a brief explanation about how the talk connects to this year’s theme, the expected time needed for the talk, and any links to publications, blogs, videos or resources that will help the TEDxUtica team better understand the applicant’s passions and the topic of the talk.

All are welcome to apply – Applicants need not be from or in the Greater Utica Area. The deadline to submit a proposal is Wednesday, April 22.
