GSC logo high res(Town of Lenox, NY – July 2015) In the beginning of the fall of the 1934 Waterfowl hunting season there was a new pre-requisite.  The requisite was the purchase of a one dollar federal stamp and the proceeds were to go to the conservation and restoration of wetlands.  This was the beginning of the Federal Duck Stamp and it has been a requirement to hunt waterfowl since 1934.  However, it is no longer a dollar; it is fifteen dollars.  Today not only duck hunters buy these stamps but stamp collectors, conservationists, and people who collect art works do also.

The Great Swamp Conservancy is extremely lucky and pleased to have the one and only Jennifer Miller, the 2015-16 Duck Stamp Artist, at our facility from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 25 and July 26.  She will have a one person show of her artwork including her award winning 2015-16 Federal Duck Stamp print.  The Federal Duck Stamp print and other Federal Duck stamps will be available for sale.

Jennifer is from Olean and is self taught.  She is the first woman from New York State to win the Federal competition and only the third woman ever to win the Federal competition.
