(Oneida, NY – Aug. 18, 2015) The Greater Oneida Kallet Civic Center is exhibiting the art work of Sue Flint of Oneida, in the Jessie Griffing Memorial Art Gallery, located in the interior lobby area.
Flint may be best known for her former dedicated service to the elementary students of Wampsville and North Broad Street Schools during a teaching career that spanned 34 years. Teaching those children was her passion however her love of painting has always been an important part of her life.
Upon her retirement, Flint was given art supplies and a scholarship for a semester of watercolor classes with the late Ralph Murray by her North Broad Street “teacher family.” Most of the paintings on display were inspired by those classes.
In addition to working with watercolor, Flint has painted sets of every one of the Oneida High School’s spring musicals for the past 14 years. She has utilized her talents to enhance displays at the Madison County Historical Society and has created several works, including a mural for the New Beginnings Free Methodist Community Church in Wampsville.
The exhibit will be open for viewing on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and by appointment.
The Kallet is seeking area artists who are interested in exhibiting their work.
