(Syracuse, NY – Aug. 2015) On Thursday Aug. 27 the public is encouraged to get their can to the Fair for the Food Bank of Central New York. NYS Fair officials invite the community and fairgoers to show their support of this hunger-relief mission by bringing non-perishable food donations to the NYS Fair.
From 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. volunteers will be stationed in the brown and orange parking lots as well as at Gates 1, 3, 4, 10, 11 and 12 to collect food donations. For those that do not bring food, monetary donations will be accepted as well. The goal is to collect more than 7,500 pounds of food. M&T Bank will donate $1 per pound of food donated up to $7,500.
“We are pleased to partner with the NYS Fair officials to spread awareness that hunger exists in our local communities and that everyone can get involved by bringing a non-perishable item to the Fair,” stated Kathleen Stress, executive director at Food Bank of Central New York.
“M&T Bank knows how important it is to support those organizations that make our communities better places to live and work. We are proud to partner with the Food Bank of CNY at the NYS Fair to raise awareness of the hunger issue in CNY,” said Allen J. Naples, Regional President, M&T Bank.
