state-police-seal-150x150On March 23, 2016, at approximately 11:07 a.m., State Police were dispatched to a report of an unconscious operator stopped in a lane on I-190 near the Peace Bridge.

The responding Trooper arrived on scene to find an Erie County Sheriff’s Deputy administering emergency aid to the driver, who quickly regained consciousness and was transported by Rural Metro Ambulance to a local hospital to be evaluated.

The driver was identified as, Mark J. DiMarco, 33, of Tonawanda, NY.  He was found to be impaired by drugs and in possession of heroin.  After being cleared medically, he was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE), and transported to SP Buffalo for processing.  DiMarco submitted to a blood draw to determine the drug content in his system and was subsequently charged with:

  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree; a Class A Felony
  • Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs; an Unclassified Misdemeanor
DiMarco was turned over to a sober third party and released on appearance tickets returnable to the City of Buffalo Court on April 1, 2016 at 9:30 a.m.
Two killed in head-on crash in town of Adams
State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Fuller Road between Minkler Road and State Route 69 in the Town of Adams, Jefferson County.

At approximately 4:45pm, a 1998 GMC pickup truck, operated by Larry J. Plummer, age 31, from 13023 Fuller Road was traveling north on Fuller Road when he crossed over into the south bound lane striking a 2008 Honda Odyssey Van head-on, driven by 18 year-old, Parker J. Leikam from 12095 Fuller Road.

Witnesses reported seeing Plummer speeding and driving erratically just prior to the crash.  Both Plummer and Leikam were pronounced deceased at the scene.  Fuller Road was closed for five hours while State Police reconstructed the scene.

State Police were assisted at the scene by the Adams Center Fire Department and the Jefferson County Office of Fire & Emergency Management.

New Baltimore, NY – On March 22, 2016, at approximately 1:23 p.m., State Police stopped a vehicle on I-87 for a traffic violation. The driver of the vehicle, James P. Quirin, 29, of Garden City, NY, was found to be in possession of MDMA* and marijuana.  He was taken into custody, transported and processed at SP Albany, where he was subsequently charged with:

  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4th Degree; a Class C Felony
  • Unlawful Possession of Marijuana; a Violation
Quirin was arraigned before the Town of New Baltimore Court and remanded to the Greene County Jail in lieu of $5000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.

*MDMA is also known as Ecstasy or Molly.  MDMA is a psychoactive drug primarily used for its euphoric effects.
