LETTER: Tenney’s actions in Congress a mockery
To the Editor:
I just finished reading the self-congratulatory press release published by our representative in Congress.
This has to be a joke. I had to look twice to see if it was satire. Am I being “trolled?” I thought? Tenney’s actions in Congress make this “balanced budget” vote a mockery of all of us. She has voted for tax cuts for the wealthy that, on their own, would leave our country in tremendous financial distress. They will not, as she and others have claimed “pay for themselves.” She then doubled down by supporting the massive spending bill we can’t pay for because, well, we cut taxes as a favor to the wealthy.
It is indisputable that in less than one term; actually, in less than a few months, this fiscally and socially irresponsible representative, along with her Republican so-called “deficit hawk” colleagues has launched the Federal deficit to more than $1 trillion.
Now bragging and congratulating herself about her vote for a balanced budget amendment seems odd, knowing that the only way this can be achieved is to steal your retirements and your healthcare plans; your Social Security and your Medicare you have been paying for all of your life. Republicans like to call those benefits an “entitlement,” suggesting that you don’t deserve to get the benefit you paid for.
Couple this with her votes gutting our internet privacy and permitting your internet provider to charge you for turning around and selling your personal information and add to it her gleeful votes to deprive millions of Americans, including 80,000 of her own constituents, of healthcare, and you must wonder who she is really representing.
She is certainly representing the hell out of us.
