(Hamilton, NY – Aug. 2013) Joanne Shenandoah, a reknown citizen of the Oneida Iroquois Nation, has been performing for more than 20 years all over the world, bringing music of peace, hope and cultural awareness. She will perform at The Palace Theater Sept. 28 at 8 p.m.
Many of her original compositions have been heard on popular television shows and documentaries such as HBO, Discovery, CBS and PBS. Some songs are in her traditional native tongue and are explained thoroughly so the audience is lifted to a place of celebration.
Most of Shenandoah’s songs combine stories, cultural beliefs and environmental messages of the Iroquois.
Traditional and contemporary instrumentation will be utilized such as horn rattles, native flute, drum and guitar.
Tickets sell for $15 for adults and $12 for youth.
