(Clinton, NY – Aug. 2013)  The Sixth Annual Kirkland Cyclocross Race (KCX) will be held Sunday, Sept. 15 at the Kirkland Town Park in Clinton.

There will be 14 categories of races through the day beginning at 9 a.m. and finishing at 3:30 p.m. This official USA Cycling event is sponsored by the Mohawk Valley Bicycling Club (MVBC) and is part of the 2013 NYCross.com race series.  All proceeds raised will benefit the Kirkland Town Park.

In 2012 the Kirkland Cyclocross Race drew 145 participants from as far away as Ontario, Georgia, and even California to our community.  In five years it has raised nearly $8,000 for the Kirkland Town Park to help repair and improve its facilities.

Cyclocross bicycle racing traces its roots to Belgium and continues to grow in popularity. The KCX course is a short loop of challenging terrain completely in the park making it spectator friendly. Each section of the course offers a different view of the racers and their skills.

Riders of all ages are welcome and encouraged to compete for over $2,000 in cash and prizes. There is also a free kids “race” for children up to 9 years old at noon and a food vendor on site to make it a great family outing.

Registration online at www.BikeReg.com is highly recommended but you can also register on race day up to 20 min before your event..
