(Town of Verona, NY – Oct. 21, 2013) On Saturday Oct. 19 around 3:50 p.m. State Police Troop T were patrolling I-90 in the Town of Verona, Oneida County, when they spotted a grey Acura with dark tinted windows going 82 mph in a 65 mph zone.
When the Trooper pulled the vehicle over and interviewed the driver, and only occupant, Anthony L. Johnson Jr., 23, from Syracuse, there was a small amount of visible marijuana in plain view as well as a strong odor of marijuana coming from within the vehicle.
When the State Police completed their investigation, Johnson was under arrest, and police secured 15.2 ounces of marijuana, rolling papers, and a digital scale from the vehicle.
Johnson was charged with third-degree Criminal Possession of Marijuana and issued an Appearance Ticket.
He was also issued tickets for Speeding and Tinted front side windows.
Johnson is due back in the Town of Verona Court on Nov. 5 at 5:30 p.m. to answer the charges.
