November 4 Star Party: Taurid Meteor Shower 7-9pm
We’ll say hello to winter skies and check out the Taurid meteor shower at the same time. The Taurids are a modest shower, but in contrast, the Leonids, which occur on the 17th, are going to be completely washed out this year by a full moon. Dress warmly and bring a chair to sit back and watch the show. Back-up date: November 5th. $5 for members, $15/family; $8 for nonmembers, $25/family.
November 6 Birding Series: Ducks, Geese, and Other Waterfowl 7-8:30pm
Continuing our birding workshops from spring, this evening’s lecture will help make identifying those tricky water birds less daunting… and even fun! Join us for the corresponding field trip to the Montezuma Wildlife Refuge on the 9th to put your new skills to the test. $10 members; $15 for nonmembers. Lecture & Field Trip Package: $20 members; $30 nonmembers.
November 9 Birding Field Trip: Montezuma Migrants 8am-noon
Peak waterfowl migration at Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge brings more than 200,000 ducks and geese to Central New York. Baltimore Woods Nature Center staff will be on hand to point out rare migrants before they move on to warmer waters. Meet at Baltimore Woods at 8:00am to carpool, otherwise, meet at Montezuma at 8:45am. $15 members; $20 nonmembers. Lecture & Field Trip Package: $20 members; $30 nonmembers.
November 9 Baltimore Woods “Drawing on Talent” Art Gallery Reception 2-4pm
Join us for an afternoon of good fellowship and food as Baltimore Woods Nature Center’s member artists share their work. This exhibit celebrates the artists of the Baltimore Woods community. Admission to the gallery is free, and the public is welcome. Bring your family and friends to enjoy artworks in a variety of media and shop for unique gifts. Event is free and open to the public.
November 11 Baltimore Woods Nature Adventure Day Camp 9am-4pm
Get back to basics this Veterans Day at Baltimore Woods! Come to camp for a fun filled day when we’ll use games and activities to rediscover pioneer living. The adventure happens on November 11th. Camp runs from 9am to 4pm, with early and late care available. Registration forms are available on our website, pre-registration is required. Cost is $40 per camper, family membership required. Hours: Interpretive Center is open M-F 9am-4pm, Saturday 10am-4pm, closed Sundays.
